Apparently that attempted character assassination against Elizabeth Warren in her Massachusetts Senate race hasn't paid off. A Harstad Strategic Research, Inc. poll shows the race between Warren and Scott Brown to be tied at 46 percent each:

To my way of thinking this is excellent news for Elizabeth Warren, especially considering the fact that this poll was conducted after the Republican-stoked "controversy" about her having once checked a box on a form that she was of Native American ancestry. That flap started well before this poll, which was conducted May 8-10.
Does this mean that she's weathered the storm of an ongoing character assault? It may be too early to tell...we'll probably have to wait and see what later polls show.
However, voters are not that dumb (at least not always)...and, it seems, are able to see through the smokescreen of this non-issue.
So far, at least, it appears that all of the time, energy, effort and resources by Ms. Warren's opponents to turn this into a major issue....may have been for naught.
And...if she has weathered this storm, this might also be an indication that she is a stronger candidate than many had thought.
Or, to paraphrase that old Timex watch slogan, it appears that Ms. Warren has taken a political beating, but still keeps on ticking along.
