The latest Suffolk University poll of the Presidential election in Massachusetts shows Obama leading Romney by 25%! Just 6 years ago Romney was the Governor of Massachusetts. I heard Mike Dukakis on the Jeff Santos Show comment on this this morning. He pointed out that it is not because Massachusetts is a blue state. Massachusetts voted for Reagan twice and Dukakis himself was succeeded by 4 Republican governors in a row until Deval Patrick was elected in 2006.
Just imagine if John Kerry were trailing George Bush by 25% in Massachusetts in 2004! Imagine if Barack Obama were trailing McCain by 25% in Illinois in 2008! Do you think the media would have had a bit of a field day with that? There is no doubt in my mind that it would have been huge news and trumpeted on all the major networks, Sunday AM shows, etc. Questions would be raised as to why his own people would hold him in such low regard, blah, blah blah. Yet, I have yet to hear a peep about Romney's standing in Massachusetts in any national news nor, other than the poll itself, in state news. Not surprising, but pretty funny, huh?
