Day 2 for me...
The schedule of the day: two major events. 1. Pick the delegates to fill the 40 or so at large seats for the national election. 2. Pick the comittee members.
My job for today, where to send the delegates when they arrive. Since another event is cranking up at the center, our entrance that we used yesterday was closed off. If you missed the signs as you entered, I was one of the volunteers to point you in the right direction, or if you left out the wrong door for coffee or lunch.
We had a initial list of over 300 names for the open seats, that got whittled down to 150 late yesterday. Those who showed up this morning got to address the judges and selection committee "Why I should be chosen for one of the atlarge seats". The list was now down to 99. The speakers were given 3 or so minutes to tell about themselves and why. A lot of the more serious wanting to be selected had printed materials they handed out beforehand. Some had slogan pins/buttons and stickers.
I heard only a few of them. INMO, they all deserved to be sent to the national convention.
My day ended about 11 or so.
Thanks for reading this. I will be volunteering more as the election gets closer..
