Israel
Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv is the site of a J14 revival today.
The police moved in when #j14 activists attempted to set up a tent:
I can't tell what they're chanting because I don't speak Hebrew. Haaretz has the full story with images of protest leaders being arrested.
This comes just a few weeks after anti-afrian race riots in Tel Aviv, called "Krystallnacht 2012" by the Israeli left. The riot saw africans attacked in the streets, and the smashing of african owned businesses and storefronts. I wrote a diary on that incident here with links to news stories. Two Likud Knesset members were supported the attacks before and after the incident, according to Haaretz and RT.
The Israeli left responded immediately to those attacks by blocking access to Likud party headquarters in Tel Aviv. The Israeli left has really been fighting back hard lately, but they never seem to get any press.
Sudan
Meanwhile, Sudan is in its 7th day of consecutive protests that the western media has noticed. It's being called "Sandstorm Friday" by the protesters. In January of 2011, I wrote about ongoing protest marches in Sudan and elsewhere. They haven't gone away, but they got difficult to find because the videos and photos have mostly been posted in Arabic.
I'm still looking for good video, which is a struggle seeing as how I still can't read or write in Arabic (making google searches problematic).
The video and images I saw months ago were generally pictures of young people taking to the streets. Now, we see people of all ages out in force. When it was a student movement, I couldn't recognize the chants, but there's a chant that I think everyone in Sudan knows. As they're being fired on with live rounds from the police or beaten with wooden batons, they're chanting "La illah allah ilah." "There is no god but god."
I've got confirmed reports of live ammunition fire in Sennar, and one confirmed injury in Omdurman, where a man was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital. The self-publishing coming out of Sudan still defines this movement as student-led. But the parents have joined their children in the streets.
Here's the IBTimes on Sudan.
Bahrain
Street violence is now widespread in Bahrain. Images of a man shot to death by the regime have been flying around on twitter all day.
A few months ago, Bahrain called in Saudi troops to put down the Arab Spring uprising. Now that the Saudis are gone, the Arab Spring is back. And for the Oligarchs in Bahrain, things just got really, really bad.
Bahrain's main opposition bloc says riot police firing rubber bullets have injured the head of the Shiite majority's main political bloc while trying to break up protests in the country's capital.
Full story
here.
Expect to see these stories picked up by other Media outlets as time goes on. Except for the story in Israel. Almost nobody but Haaretz writes about the Israeli left. Same story here, it seems.
Warning
This diary contains a discussion of some events in Israel. I will not tolerate antisemitic comments or an Israel/palestine pie fight. If you can't be respectful of your fellow Kossacks' opinions in the comment section of this diary then post in a different diary. If you're an antisemite, find a different website. I'm going to ask Kossacks to keep an eye on the comments here for moderation purposes.
10:39 AM PT: In an image similar to what we saw in Egypt, police trucks are being set on fire in Sudan. I don't know where this is in the country.
