What a life-giving month in our home!
In August, on the 19th and 20th, my two oldest boys were born, the first child on the 20th and the younger on the 19th.
In addition the same year the younger boy was born, on just the day before his birth, our family grew by four additional children, as well.
They were Vietnamese refugees from 9 to 19, Trang, Tuan, Mai and Kim Oanh.
So August, the hot and sticky summer-in-the-pits month, holds bountiful memories for our family.
I so remember trying to sleep in our non-air conditioned homes (one being a small camper-type trailer).. How my feet swelled during those pregnancies! How the babies kicked inside me! I couldn't wait for my two boys to come, but at the same time, I dreaded their coming -- the pain, the responsibilities, the changes I had to make.
Now as August rolls around again, all have left. The Vietnamese children are grown up and living in California now. My sons are quite wonderful young men -- delights to behold!
All fruits of August, the hot and wonderful month!
