By now, you’ve probably heard that Scott Brown’s staff was caught mocking Elizabeth Warren with racially insensitive Native American chants. First, it should be noted that these were NOT low level grunts:
“According to the local ABC affiliate in Boston, it has been confirmed that among the participants were Brown’s deputy Chief of Staff Greg Casey, Constituent Service Counsel Jack Richard, plus state GOP operative Brad Garrett.”
I have serious problems with this story because it follows the general theme of GOP ugliness toward any demographic group unlike themselves. When Senator Allen had his infamous “macaca” moment, his racist slur was not only aimed at that young minority man, it could have pointed to every gay person, Muslim or anyone else who doesn’t fit neatly in his republican world-view.
In this Brown incident, it was obviously okay for his senior staff to mock Native Americans because they are the “other” in the GOP “exceptional” American mindset.
The “whorification” of Sandra Fluke is no different because she’s just another liberal, independent woman in the minds of so many conservatives. So it’s okay to attack her in the most deeply personal ways.
How about the Marxist, socialist, Muslim in the White House and the New Black Panther sympathizer at the DOJ? How about the lesbian liberal woman on MSNBC that they call “Mancow” and half of Americans they call lazy?
Romney’s welfare lies are no different—it’s the good “white” republicans versus the severely flawed others. You know, all of you gays, liberals, minority and intellectuals!! You guys are the problem in their world.
Brown can’t debate Elizabeth Warren on ideas as was so evident the other night. So he has to mock her Native American history. Would he do the same if she was part Jewish or had roots in Italy?
I don’t think so.
It’s that “otherness” that is driving so much of the rage on the right.
The real issue with Warren is not with her history but it’s the uninformed thinking that if one is Native American or, Hispanic or Black, America tipped the scales in their favor.
That’s stupid.
Never-mind the fact that when America was “discovered,” our Native American brothers were already here. So we just killed and diseased them almost into non-existence and replaced them with another group of people we bought, stole, raped, murdered and enslaved for 350 years. But in Brown’s world, those are advantages.
Romney even mused that he would win the presidency if he was Hispanic.
Wow?? That's crazy.
So yes, all of us should be deeply offended by Brown’s “Southern Strategy” because in his efforts damage Warren’s credibility, he’s truly shown us his soul.
Regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation, we’re all Native Americans now.
Is Scott Brown a Racist?
I don't know what's in his heart but he's been gnawing on this "Native-American" bone far too long!!
