I've seen a lot of discussion in diaries about establishing Single Payer in Vermont. But activists have been working to pass Single Payer in California. We've passed it twice only to be stopped by Arnold's veto. Now, with Arnold gone, we're trying to pass Single Payer in California. Today marked a critical turning point to get the Single Payer bill (SB 810) onto the floor of the State Senate. WE NEED THE HELP OF EVERYONE TO MAKE SINGLE PAYER A REALITY IN CALIFORNIA
More information on the bill status and contacts are below.
Yesterday, the bill was moved to the "Suspense" file where they will decide on Thursday if it is moved to the Senate floor or not, if it does not move to the Senate floor Thursday we will not be able to get it out of the Senate and keep moving the bill this session. So this decision is critical to the life of the bill. Committee Chairwoman Kehoe and Senate Pro Tem Steinberg are key to help us move forward. Please continue to contact their office.
Please, everyone in the Kos Community, ESPECIALLY Californians need to contact the following California State Senators.
First, thank Senators Christine Kehoe, Curren Price and Darrell Steinberg for supporting SB 810 and ask them to move the bill to the floor. Please note that Senator Steinberg is the Senate President Pro Tem.
