There were a lot of things in last night's VP debate, that point out the differences between the two candidates Joe Biden and Paul Ryan -- and indeed the differences between the two parties
REP. RYAN: I don’t see how a person can separate their public life from their private life or from their faith. Our faith informs us in everything we do. My faith informs me about how to take care of the vulnerable, about how to make sure that people have a chance in life.
Paul Ryan says it as a matter of fact: "
Our faith informs us in everything we do."
Not Science.
Not the Constitution.
Not the Bill of Rights.
Not the respect for other Creeds and Beliefs.
Not in the long march of History for civil rights.
Nope -- it's their Faith that informs them in ALL their decisions -- both public and private.
You know their ends, justify their means. "Fair play" has nothing to do with it. They're on a mission -- a mission to moralize ...
Here is the definition of that mysterious Faith that informs them in their say-anything campaign:
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
-- Hebrews 11: 1
"Rendering unto Caesar" -- Nope. They have a Pledge against that.
Funny how their "No Tax pledge" -- "informs" so much of what they do too. THAT is even something we can actually "see" too. Nothing mysterious about it.
Perhaps they will change our coinage to "In Grover we trust," if given the opportunity?
Compare Ryan's answer about his Faith-tocracy world view, with Joe Biden's wider democratic view ...
VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN: With regard to -- with regard to abortion, I accept my church’s position on abortion as a -- what we call de fide (doctrine ?). Life begins at conception. That’s the church’s judgment. I accept it in my personal life.
But I refuse to impose it on equally devout Christians and Muslims and Jews and -- I just refuse to impose that on others, unlike my friend here, the congressman.
I -- I do not believe that -- that we have a right to tell other people that women, they -- they can’t control their body. It’s a decision between them and their doctor, in my view. And the Supreme Court -- I’m not going to interfere with that.
It seems that Joe Biden is being "informed by"
much more than his personal faith --
he is being informed by the First Amendment -- and the constraint from establishing a national religion. In a open society, in a FREE democracy, most in the Democratic party condone
the respecting ALL Faiths and points of view.
Your personal life -- is your business.
Republicans seem to have no similar compunctions, nor the same civil respect for others. If a Moralist believes something in their own personal lives -- then they see no problem forcing others to live by THEIR own moral code.
As Paul Ryan put it: "Our faith informs us in everything we do."
That really explains a lot, if you take it at face value. Your personal life -- is THEIR business.
It's either their way, or the infernal highway ... if you fail to get with their "unseen" program.
The Norquist Commandment must be followed ... or we all shall face public stoning fleecing in the town square ...
So sayeth the Republican's "good book" ... "Thou shall be Taxed no more. Ever." ... So sayeth your nearest ill-informed Republican candidate.
Peace be with you.
