I gotta tell ya, I'm not one to be star struck and I'm not impressed by many people, but right now, I'm a little verklempt...
This will be short and sweet. I'm a little awestruck right now...
My office is on the corner of Glades Road and Butts Road (Lynn University is around the corner on Military Trail). My son (who works part-time at an office across the street from Lynn) was let go early today because of actual and impending road closures. He called a bit ago to tell me he was stuck in stand-still traffic, on a road that runs adjacent to my office (I can see it from a window on the west side of our office). I went to see and gauge what was going on and sure enough, the cops had traffic in all 4 directions stopped. This intersection is only 2 blocks from I-95, and Glades Road is a major east/west artery in Boca Raton. There are many office buildings and a major mall within a 2 block radius of my office building.
Some of ran us out to the corner to see what we could see and sure enough, the motorcade passed (what a to-do it is), and President Obama was waving. I saw him (verrrry briefly) as did my son. My son, who is 19 and will be voting for the first time this year...
It was special. For us both. He, stuck in a car ... me, standing on the corner, gawking with other supporters. Too fast for a picture, but no matter.
As an aside to the topic of this diary, but still related to the election, the next major intersection just west of us (Glades Road and St. Andrews) has been the sight of Rmoney/Ryan supporters over the last few weeks (a lot of white people waving signs, flags, trying to drum up support). Well, this morning who was on that corner? Big Bird and Elmo!!! That's right, on all 4 corners, Big Bird and Elmo holding signs that said "Save my job!!" And I'll tell you something else, they were getting a hell of a lot more support than the Rmoney/Ryan people ...
And I'm still verklempt.
I hope Obama wipes the floor with Mitt tonight. Leave him in a pile of his own flop sweat at Lynn University.
