Remember the old Budweiser "Whassup?" commercials? Hilarious as all hell. Nonsensical, addictive. Remember the 2008 version endorsing Obama? Times have changed since the ad ran. It's good to have a reminder of where we were in 2008 to see how far we've come.
The original Budweiser ads ran from 1999-2002. They consisted mostly of friends greeting each other with occasionally unintelligible shouts of "Whassuuuuuuuppppp?" while "watching the game and having a Bud".
Here's the first ad that ran in 1999:
Budweiser had only leased the rights to the 'Whassup?' idea for five years. So when the 2008 elections rolled around, the director and original cast got together to endorse Barack Obama using the "Whassup?" tagline. Set in 2008, the video gives a snapshot how the 'Whassup?' guys fared under eight years of Bush policies.
Watching the video is a great reminder of where we were four years ago. It's a wake up call, too. Vote as if your life depended on it.
