They are mostly an aggregator of news stories from other sources. Then they add in their own opinion pieces, etc.
That was cool because it made it a one stop shop of sorts. I got just enough of all the latest stuff to not look completely lost while in conversation with colleagues. If a story interested me I could go and research it further.
Lately though, their choice of top news has been at times very bizarre, other times definitely "hair on fire" They write their own headlines and these are becoming more and more sensationalistic and less accurate.
They seem to be far more right leaning lately, I guess just to get clicks
An example is today, a story with the teaser "Desperate Obama".
The summary headline: Desperate Obama makes closing argument against Romney
The story's headline: Obama Campaign Makes Closing Argument Against Mitt Romney In New Swing State Ad
There is one paragraph near the end that apparently the "desperate" comes from:
Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg called the new ad "desperate" and expressed confidence that voters will choose a Romney-Ryan administration on Election Day.
So a Romney flunky thinks the ad is desperate which then rolls up to the front page as being that Obama is desperate?
This is just one example, I could pull out several...every day. Framing is everything. I guess I just expect less of the sensationalist framing games from a site who claims to be a news site. It's getting to be more like the National Enquirer.
Does anyone have any suggestions for someplace better to get my daily snapshots of the days happenings?
