Yesterday I posted a diary that included a political cartoon by Clay Bennett of the Chattanooga Times Free Press. The diary immediately shot straight to the top of the Rec list.
Unfortunately, at the time, I had no way of giving proper credit to the Chattanooga Times, as I discovered the cartoon via a 3rd-party post on Facebook instead of via the newspaper site itself, which didn't actually have it posted yet. I did try my best to give proper attribution.
I just received an email from Clay Bennett himself, thanking me for the additional exposure, explaining how the cartoon got into the wild without being posted to the Chattanooga Times website and, more to the point, requesting that I do what I can to direct traffic there now that it is posted. He was extremely gracious, but does understandably want his employer to receive as much of the traffic for this as possible.
As Mr. Bennett put it, "I realize that the barn door may already be wide open for this horse, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask for a link to the institution that is as responsible for the creation of this cartoon as I am."
So, I would urge anyone still reading this diary to please also click this direct link to the Chattanooga Times Free Press site (and, more importantly, to use this link whenever spreading the word about this particular comic). It's the right thing to do.In addition, by overwhelming popular request, he's launched a series of T-Shirts & buttons featuring the incredibly powerful, yet amazingly simple image to help spread the word.
Given how many times my diary featuring Mr. Bennett's work was viewed, I figure I owe it to him (and his paper) to promote him and his work properly this time.

On a related note, the "complete" set of Volumes I - III of the Republican Rape Advisory Chart is now available in one handy, vomit-inducing graphic (click to view full-size...it's too large to fit properly here):
Volume I
Volume II
Volume III
Volumes I - III (3 Columns)
Volumes I - III (Single Column)
Also, regarding the charts: After several days of feeling squeamish about whether to attach my name to these charts or not, a female friend said that I should just go ahead and "own it", so I'm doing so--the versions linked to above all include my name at the bottom.
Of course, the first chart has been reposted/retumblered/retweeted so many times by now (including people downloading/re-uploading their own versions) that it's unlikely to make much difference at this point, but that's OK as well.
