This is not a question of skewing or not believing polls. I am actually just wondering what methodology does real clear politics use to select which polls they include in their tracking.
Yesterday, Gallup released two polls, a 3-day average and a seven day for registered voters. RCP decided to only use the three day that favored Romney, and the only time a 3-day tracker was included.
Today, Gallup released this in addition to their likely voter screen....
But RCP decided to use the new likely voter poll as the only tracked poll. It literally seems like they are picking any poll favorable to Romney and simply ignoring those that are not. Now, I am not a poll watcher, especially day to day. But RCP was mentioned a lot yesterday and today, and I am just wondering two things.
1. Does anyone know the methodology they use to select polls, or is it just ad-hoc?
2. Why does anyone give them credence, clicks, and use their tools when other alternatives are available? Are they considered a real aggregator or a conservative outfit? The last time I even paid them attention it was clear they were owned by a former Republican Presidential candidate and started by a conservative commentator? Why do Democrats provide them with credibility?
