Last night Lawrence O'Donnell did a piece on Romney's recent campaign story involving cleaning up after a football game in his youth as a testimonial to his being able to clean up after big messes like Sandy. It is really a remarkable insight into his mind as well as being absolutely hilarious.
If you haven't seen this yet, you simply have to:
Romney compares Sandy relief to cleaning up after high-school football game
Hang in til the end...
I remember once we had a football field at my high school. The field was covered with rubbish and paper goods from people who’d had a big celebration there at the game. And there was a group of us there assigned to clean it up. And I thought, ‘how are we going to clean up all the mess on this football field?’ There were just a few of us. And the person responsible for organizing the effort said, ‘Just line up along the yard lines. You go between the goal line and the 10-yard line, and the next person between the 10 and 20, and just walk down and do your lane. And if everybody cleans their lanes, we’ll get it done.’ And so today, we’re cleaning one lane if you will.
You can't make this stuff up. The sight of Romney moving water bottles from one side of his campaign photo-op set to the other while being hounded with questions about his plans to send FEMA to the states. The look on his face as he resolutely refuses to answer the questions. Then this amazing story about cleaning up litter after a football game. It is simply amazing.
And what does he mean by "we’re cleaning one lane if you will" ???
