Hard-hit by sanctions, Iran suspends 20-percent uranium enrichment
Sunday, 04 November 2012
Iran has suspended 20-percent uranium enrichment in order to have Western-imposed sanctions lifted, a parliament member told Al Arabiya on Saturday.
Earlier, Foreign Policy and National Security Commission of Parliament Mohammad Hossein Asfari told ISNA news agency that Tehran’s move was a “good will” gesture, hoping that Western countries will lift their sanctions on Tehran.

Note:
If this plays out as reported, you could argue that Barack Obama's sanctions brought "Peace" to the Middle East by averting nuclear proliferation. Looking forward to Rmoney's concession speech.
Bonus:
What does "20%" enrichment mean:
Iran has a stockpile of 20% uranium weighing just over 90kg (200lb), according to an International Energy Agency watchdog report in August. Experts say between 200-250kg is needed for one nuclear device. Once uranium reaches 20% purity, it is close to becoming weapons grade. Experts have estimated it would take Iran another year to produce a warhead small enough to put on a missile.
