A dumbass to the end.
So Mitt Romney will be spending part of his day making two airport stops in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Apparently, this is some attempt to show America that he's fighting down to the wire, even though he's about to get blown out.
Some have speculated that his travel plans had something to do with tying up traffic in two key Democratic cities, thus impacting GOTV. If true, that would be evil genius. But nope, these are airport stops. The plane lands. Romney says 15 words to 300 assembled people on the tarmac, then the plane leaves. No traffic issues.
On the other hand, those stops tie up campaign staff into doing logistical work instead of stuff that could actually get voters to the polls. There are no next-day headlines to grab with those stops, and it's not like local TV will cut into their coverage to bring live shots of those stops. The early evening newscasts would cover it, but does anyone watch those anymore? And in any case, if the newscasts are your goal, then why not do what President Barack Obama did?
Obama opted to make a dozen radio and satellite TV interviews from his hometown of Chicago to keep his closing arguments fresh in voters' minds.
There's no way a competent campaign ties up staff doing pointless logistical work in two states they seriously think they can win, when that staff could be dragging voters to the polls.
So they are either incompetent, or they don't think they can win Ohio or Pennsylvania. I think there's a 98.7 percent probability that the answer is "all of the above".
Update:
A good glimpse at where Obama campaign is focusing on today comes from POTUS TV interview sked: IA, CO, WI, OH, FL, NV, VA. (No NC,NH, PA)
