Watching MSNBC tonight (obviously) and Howard Fineman was on talking about our beloved Commonwealth of Virginia, and one of the key messages being put out by Barack Obama's team is this: "STAY IN LINE" if you're still waiting to vote.
Yes, polls technically closed in Virginia about 16 minutes ago (by my computer clock) but by law, you can still vote if you're in line at the tome of polls closing.
Apparently the one concern the Obama team has as far as Virginia is that thanks to the turnout today, people who are waiting in line may at some point get discouraged or frustrated and stop waiting and fail to cast a ballot.
I think it's pretty clear, to Virginians and anyone else who is still in line, and still wanting to cast a ballot for the President, that they need to gut it out and get that vote cast.
As I stated in an earlier diary, I got up what I thought would be considered "early" to vote today, a mere half an hour after the polls opened...and I still ended up waiting about an hour before I voted!!
The other side is hoping beyond hope that we're not "fired up" to vote like we were four years ago. We've all got to show them just how misguided that hope is.
Anyone who knows anyone still waiting to vote, send them some words of encouragement!!! Let them know that their voice still matters, and they still must be heard!
Because perhaps the only thing worse than being outright denied the right to vote, in my opinion, would be deciding on one's own to not cast a vote just because the line was a little too long for comfort.
