With 100% of precincts reporting, Dr Raul Ruiz (D) bested incumbent Rep Mary Bono Mack (R) last night, flipping a seat to the Democrats.
Ruiz won 51.4% of the vote to Bono Mack's 48.6%.
In raw voting, Ruiz won 83,402 to Bono Mack 78,845.
Ruiz will be the first native Coachella Valley Representative in decades, and he will be the first resident in years as Bono Mack lived mostly in Washington, DC and Florida with Connie. Now both are retired to Mack ville.
Ruiz is a physician at Eisenhower Medical Center, and progressive. Definitely an upgrade. Bono Mack alienated local gays by refusing to support marriage equality or to meet with them (us). She also alienated all the tribes with her false, racist attacks against Ruiz, even the normally Republican Agua Calientes. She finally alienated local Latinos by agreeing in email that the down valley Coachella was a 'Third World Toilet.'
