The GOP polling data was purposely designed to confuse, to manipulate, and to create doubt about the accuracy of facts and data that pointed to a possible Obama win.
People need to understand that the character and worldview of the typical right wing adherent are the result of deeply held beliefs based on fantasy, lies, and some of the most abhorrent sentiments in society.
Because they mainly believe in superstition, and infantile notions of good and evil, heaven and hell, etc., they have no real moral compass, by and large. They lack the type of morality that's within. One that has been reached by applying one's intellect to try to understand the world around us, and comes up with rational conclusions about what a decent society should be like. This, of course, characterizes the typical low-information, ignorant Republican voter.
The other side of that coin is the highly intelligent sociopaths who control the odious right wing Republican mob. People like Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, the billionaires who tried to buy the election, and the myriad of think tanks like the AEI, Heritage Foundation, Hoover Institution, CATO and others, which serve as the propaganda apparatus designed to manipulate and exploit the population...
Their main contribution to the current political climate has been their ability to muddle the waters when it comes to facts, data, empirical evidence, and truth. From this successful effort you get the often-mentioned "false equivalency" with which much (if not all) of the U.S. media, staffed mainly by charlatans, corporate tools, and soulless money-grabbing so-called journalists, treats "both sides."
That situation explains where we are today, where almost every important issue has been muddled, including climate change, evolution, history, etc. These efforts by the treasonous, tyrannical, greedy and sadistic leadership structure of the American right wing has resulted in the current phenomena whereas even otherwise smart people fall into the trap of using language framed by them.
Hence, in the face of unfavorable polling data, this right wing propaganda apparatus financed by the Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, the loony billionaire from Las Vegas, and their ilk, went to work doing what they do best: lie. That's where Bill Maher's "Republican Bubble" comes from.
The actual purpose of coming up with their own "unskewed" polling data was to be able to claim that Romney was actually ahead, thus manipulating the population and creating doubt, and eventually shaking the resolve of people who were poised to vote for Obama. They weren't wrong, as Politico claimed today--"The GOP polling debacle." It was a deliberate misinformation and propaganda campaign, perpetrated by the type of people who truly represent the enemy within, who have no sense of true patriotism, whom avarice and greed knows not boundaries.
The same thing with the so-called "fiscal cliff" (another right wing frame), and government spending, and the national debt, and so-called entitlement programs (another right wing frame), and the outright lie that says that taxing the rich a little bit more is detrimental to job creators, and to workers.
If the country is in a difficult situation today, financially and otherwise, it is the direct result of massive and unprecedented looting by Wall Street, a situation that reached fever pitch during the Bush administration. It is because of the tax cuts for the rich instituted by Bush while pushing for unfunded wars; wars started under false pretenses and lies; wars which ended up benefiting friends of the Bush crime family, and the military industrial complex.
The thievery, the looting, the orgy of greed by many members of the wealthy class in the U.S. resulted in unspeakable levels of misery; on countless suicides of people who could not take the pain of seeing all their dreams go down the drain; on millions of people losing their homes; on hundreds of thousands of innocent people being killed in unnecessary wars, which were basically designed to transfer hundreds of billions of dollars to military contractor.
And all this was done with impunity. Some of the biggest crimes in history; some of the biggest looting of a nation (by people who are easily identifiable) ever. And the good and decent people of this country are still paying for the debauchery of the rich, having been left holding the bag.
So let's rejoice on the results of this election, but do not be mistaken into believing we have made much progress against these nefarious forces. The work has just began. And we must now be hyper-vigilant against these creeps.
There should be no hesitation, or doubt, that one of our major objectives should be to completely obliterate and crush (politically) the billionaire-funded right wing machine, the current Republican party as it exists today, as it represent a true clear and present danger to the nation's future.
