It all starts with finding your dream
The place to start your life journey is of course finding that dream. Many of us dream, but what many of us take for granted is that dreams are powerful.
Dreams are among those precious few intangibles that have inspired men and women to get up, go to hell and back, and change the world. So what do dreams help us accomplish?
This would be finding your life's journey to your promised land.
Many of us like to think of our life journey, as the paths taken, to make it to our 'Promised Land'.
When it comes to our life's journey, dreams are the only thing that can make this happen; and I’m not talking about the sort of fantasy dreams that can’t physically happen.
What we are talking about is the sort of dream that will inspire you. A dream that you are really prepared to sweat for, in order to make it become your reality. So you must own it.
This quote from T.E. Lawrence means a lot to me:
‘All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.’
Our job is to be the dangerous type. The one who dreams by day and acts to make those dreams come alive and actually happen.
So please take some time to get this right. It is not going to happen at the flick of a switch, like turning on a light.
Go for a walk tonight and think about this. Think about your family. Ask yourself where do you want to be in 3-5 years at that stage in your life with them.
Think about what really makes you smile when no one is watching you.
Think about what motivates you to jump out, not just simply crawl out of bed.
Think about what would make you scream inside your car every morning before you hit the road; "Lets get this party started right!!!"
Next, you need to ask yourself if you want to make it to your Promised Land; what would you be doing right now if you didn't need the money and were already financially independent.
You must then ask yourself about what really excites you day after day. What would inspire you to keep going long after most people would quit.
Find those answers and aha! There-in lies your dream. This has now become the road-map that will get you there. Now that you have this map to your Promised Land, you must follow its calling; for this is when your life will truly become an adventure.
Lastly, this dream needs to be realistic and achievable, so you must use your common sense and exercise good judgment.
Whatever you do, don’t confuse realism with pessimism! Think big, make sure it is physically possible, and as long as the key ingredients to achieving it are vision and hard work, then go for it.
Jot it down in a small notepad that you will always keep close to you. Pin it on your wall at home and at work or somewhere you will see it every day.
Nothing has more power in our world than LOVE, PICTURES and WORDS.
So what are you waiting for?
Your journey has begun!
God bless
