Brian Bilbray’s seat is sliping away in the House as Scott Peters (D) extended his lead from 600 to 1800 votes as of Monday, with absentee votes still being counted. At this rate Bilbray needs 51% of the remaining votes and that doesn't seem very likely.
Bilbray’s chief of staff, Steve Danon, also looks to be losing his bid to become a San Diego County supervisor. Republican Danon trails Democrat Dave Roberts by 2,641 for the District 3 seat being vacated by Supervisor Pam Slater-Price.
Bilbray first served in the U.S. House from 1994 to 2000. After his defeat he then worked as a Washington lobbyist and moved there. Always an opportunist, when Randy 'Duke' Cunningham went to jail, Bilbray decided to run in that district (CA-50) claiming his mother's house as his residence. Redistricting has led to the new CA-52 where he is now losing.
