As each 9 seconds passes while you sit in your tax payer funded Congressional offices today, a woman is being assaulted or beaten.
While you walk marbled halls to your tax payer funded lunch to discuss how to further weaken and obstruct The Violence Against Women Act, a little girl and her brother are cowering in helpless terror watching their mother's jaw be broken. Just two among millions of children without freedom from fear with no place to go.
As you stand smirking in front of tv cameras vomiting up meaningless excuses for why you have done NOTHING but put women and children at risk, a woman is being murdered. She is one of three women who will die today at the hands of a husband, partner, or boyfriend. They are not faceless, nameless women. They are and will always be someone's daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Not that you give a damn, because you don't. It's the same with the national debt or jobs or anything but your own smug satisfaction with your ideological purity as you continue to use the American People's pain for your own political gain.
It's all connected. You see, among the various costs of violence against women to our nation is a fiscal one. Not that you care about anyone's suffering, anymore than you care about how numbers actually add up, or do not.
The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.
How about that?! Passing or even, gasp, strengthening the VAWA would help bring down the debt. You know, like creating jobs does. But then you've blocked the
American Jobs Act and
the Veterans Job Corps Act as well. There is no one you won't harm: women, children, Seniors, the unemployed, the disabled, or the President of the United States, in order to protect your privileged ambition.
You are abusive in your willful arrogance, vile in your prejudices. You are despicable in your complete lack of courage, empathy, and caring.
Over 540 women have been murdered since the Senate passed their version of The Violence Against Women Act 2012 over six months ago.
Over 762,000 women have been assaulted and beaten since Rapepubilcan members of the People's House took The Violence Against Women Act 2012 hostage, preventing final passage of the VAWA.
Millions of children's pleas for help did not penetrate your peacock self preoccupation.
You don't hear them. You don't see them. They, like so many others in America, are invisible to you, merely pawns in your lust for power. That is, after all, what everything comes down to in the morally bankrupt world you inhabit. Your bottom line isn't the sanctity of life, or fiscal responsibility, or creating jobs, or protecting anything but your own power. Your blatant hypocrisy reveals your self serving presumptions again and again.
There are some things that are unforgivable. Your willingness to play political games while people suffer and die is one of them.
There is blood on your hands. Neither Congressional perks, pulpits, time on your favorite Sunday morning "news" show, nor all the money in the world will wash it away.
We will never forgive or forget what you have done.
