Let me start by saying I think Grover Norquist is delusional and may even suffer from narcissism.
During an interview on Piers Morgan (CNN) Norquist did his comparison:
GROVER: "The pledge is not for life, but everybody who signed the pledge, including Peter King, who tried to weasel out of it. 'Shame on him,' as the New York Sun said today. I hope his wife understands that commitments last a little longer than two years or something,"
Grover went on to explain his expectations from his betrothed Pledge Signers.
GROVER: The commitment for the Pledge, as Peter King well knows when he signed it, is that as long as you are in Congress you will reign in spending and reform government not raise taxes. It's not for 500 years or 2 generations, it's as long as you're in the House or the Senate. If he has stayed too long, that's his problem."
Ok, I admit, I don't understand Grover's last sentence there. What's he really trying to say with that one?
Anyway, then Grover double-downed and compared signing his Pledge to signing other Legal Documents:
GROVER: "You don't tell the bank 'oh, the mortgage, wasn't that a long time ago.' If you make a commitment you keep it."
HA HA HA .... that's like saying, my spouses, who signed my Pledge, can have extra-marital affairs as long as we are no longer married.
Seems Grover's spouses are indicating they want a divorce.
Below is the video. There may be a short commercial at the beginning, sorry.
One final comment, those who actually signed Norquist's Pledge are the real "bad guys" here. Even if they are now claiming they want a divorce from Grover, in my opinion, any member of Congress who signed that Pledge -- to never raise revenue no matter how many millions we spend fighting two wars -- have undermined "the People" of whom they are elected to represent.
