It's been a long time since I've set foot in a Walmart. I've always hated the way their workers looked beat up, the customers looked worn down, the stores all look the same; like an outlet of pain and depression all designed for the reaping of a maximum in profits.
But now I have another reason to loathe the place. They not only impoverish their workers here, they kill their workers in far away lands and do it on the QT.
Thru a long line of sub-contractors, Walmart has washed it's hands of the blood and charred remains of the women and children that have died in the Bangladesh version of the New York City Triangle Shirtwaist Fire of 1911. They're squeaky clean on this one.
Or they'd like America to think they are.
So, don't worry America, you're absolved. After all, you're simply the "consumer", right? What's women and children dying have to do with your god-given right to buy a $12.99 pair of Faded Glory jeans? If those workers were smart they would be living in the Star Spangled Awesomeness that is the USA instead of toiling in the schmata business in Bangladesh, right?
It's Walmart's world, people. You're wearing it, the third world is burning in it, and the Walton family is wallowing in it.
So, don't worry your beautiful minds, America. Sleep well in the thought that you can buy your kids a pair of cheap blue jeans and look stylish while they go to school.
