The US House is the only thing keeping me from total political joy. Minnesota backed our president, threw out at least on Congresscritter and maybe just maybe Michele Bachmann. The ridiculous Photo ID Constitutional Amendment was defeated after polls shoed 80% in favor. At least one branch of the state legislature flipped back to the Democrats, perhaps both.
Some thoughts: Perhaps the biggest loser in Minnesota is the Catholic Church. They carried water for the failed Marriage Amendment, spent literally millions and still lost. Apparently yard signs don't indicate enthusiam, support, or intensity. There were far more Vote Yes signs than Vote No for both amendments and many many more Republican yard signs at least in greater MN, but Republicans were swamped.
Republicans seldom have a good year statewide when there is a presidential vote. The high turnout kills 'em. I really don't know how the right wing is going to deal with this defeat, but it should be interesting!
