Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread (MOT)
We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 6:30 Eastern. Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the auto-publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later, that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Just let us know in the comments.
Click on the MOT - Morning Open Thread ♥ if you'd like us to show up in your stream every day.
Toys. Toys make Christmas and isn't that what we most remember about Christmas -- the toys!
I always say that I get my grandchildren's Christmas shopping done first because they are the most important, but I think too that it's the most fun to shop for toys.
We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

1903 - Crayola Crayons
Crayola brand crayons were introduced in 1903 and were the first kids crayons ever made. Invented by cousins, Edwin Binney and C. Harold Smith, the brand's first box of eight Crayola crayons made its debut in 1903. The crayons were sold for a nickel and the colors were black, brown, blue, red, purple, orange, yellow, and green. The word Crayola was created by Alice Stead Binney (wife of Edwin Binney) who took the French words for chalk (craie) and oily (oleaginous) and combined them.

1917 - Radio Flyer Wagon
A 16-year-old Italian boy named Antonio Pasin was one of the millions who immigrated to America from Europe at the start of the 20th century. A skilled carpenter, Pasin headed to Chicago and began building little red wagons out of stamped metal. By 1923, he had saved enough money to create the Liberty Coaster Company, and he began mass-producing the wagon for just under $3. He named it the Radio Flyer in homage to two of his favorite inventions of the time: the radio and the airplane.
