This pertains to Washington State at large and my district, but it could be adapted nationwide.
A Christmas card for all our legislators, state and national.
Optional directions below:
It would be a large Christmas tree on the front with 20 tiny coffins as tree decorations, crowned with a cutout illustration of an assault weapon. Inside it would say:
What Are We Going to Do About Gun Violence?
Materials needed: large sheets of white cardboard, green and black construction paper and advice on proportions.
The idea of tiny coffins as tree decorations, the coffins must be large enough to make no mistake about what they represent -- which would require a large suggestion of tree in proportion.
They could be wretchedly constructed -- as from a child's hand. And the lettering inside would writ large, as in the royal and commanding "We", by people with the worst handwriting.
A minimum of six cards. If you're not interested I think I'll just do it myself but I think it would be a group therapy effort. If we get into it, we could do cards for Rodney Tom and Tim Sheldon as well -- and anyone else who should be concerned.
I have already spoken with Linda Kochmar on the phone about this issue. We spoke only briefly because she said she had to go to a meeting but she said she would meet with me. But, I intend to meet with her and get a commitment from her regarding gun violence. I'm still not sure about specifics but I want her to promise not to back or introduce any NRA- or ALEC-friendly legislation.
I will also track down Roger Freeman and arrange to meet him. I think Eide might be decent on the issue.
