I want to hear from journalists on DKos about how you would report on public support for Gun Control laws in the wake of Friday's events.
Here is Halimah Abdullah's attempt to gauge support by looking at the petitions on the White House's Petition site:
Citizen-created petitions on the White House's website have netted thousands of signatures on both sides of the issue in just a few days. But the political reality is that crafting meaningful legislation is a tricky prospect.
Last I checked, the petition supporting Gun Control was the second most popular petition on the site with 175,000+ signatures. A second petition in support of Gun Control had about 35,000 signatures, and finally much further down the list was a petition asking the President to support gun owners which had a little more than 25,000 signatures.
Gun control petitioners out numbered the other side by more than 150,000. At what point, can CNN break away from their "balanced" reporting b.s.?
I would love to hear from journalists and anyone else on DKos how you would have reported this one.
