There will be an extra plate from tonight's White House dinner for the National Governors Association tonight. Our Arizona Governor Jan Brewer cited a "scheduling conflict" preventing her from attending. She laughed when reporters asked her to identify the conflict, and walked away. A spokesman, Matthew Benson, declined to say whether the conflict was state business or personal.
“We’re not going to get into our schedule,” Benson said.
According to Blomberg:
The National Governors Association dinner is a highlight of its annual winter meeting, said Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, a Republican.
“When the president of the United States invites the governors to come to a formal dinner, you don’t turn him down, OK?” Branstad said. “My youngest son is going with me. It’s a nice honor. I’m not going to deny that for my son.”
Florida’s Governor Rick Scott, a Republican who is a frequent Obama critic, will fly into Washington for the dinner after skipping the NGA’s meetings on job creation, health care and other topics.
So, Obama hating Florida Gov. Scott is attending. No friend of the President Iowa Gov. Branstad thinks the dinner is a "highlight" and is taking his son. But our Guv Jan has something else to do, and thinks that's funny?
Please. Mr. President, since they'll be an extra plate tonight, how about giving Jan's plate to someone far more deserving:
You make a little show of scrapping something off a plate into Bo's bowl, saying something vague about having an "extra plate". Jan will have an absolute hissy fit -
He has did WHAT??
