Newt Getrich (spell check says this is correct) is desperately trying to cast himself as the new Reagan. Reagan 2.0. or somesuch nonsense. He and Rmoney (spellcheck says okay) love to use the "beacon on the hill" bullshit references at every photo op and "debate". They take turns throwing that crapola against the wall as the string music crescendo in their minds swells like the pre-commercial break on a bad soap opera, while someone side stage runs to unfurl the flag.
They can keep trying to re-cast the present with these references to the past, say it often enough and loud enough, click your heels enough etc, but that doesn't make it so. Even as the so called "Liberal News Media" helps Fox noise repeat the scenario, the case just can't be made. It just isn't there. That dog won't hunt.
As heart breaking as it may seem to them, the fresh off the sting of Vietnam America that elected the B-actor Reagan over one of the most intelligent presidents ever, is long gone. The morans are in the minority and their Teabagging fantasy is about to come to a landsliding end.
The informative, in-depth answer versus the short, crowd pleasing sound bite sounds familiar. The crowd hooted in true prescient Tea-bagging fashion.
Closing thoughts after the fold.
I almost wish Getrich would get the nomination just so we could watch the debate between a make-believe "historian" and Obama. Watch the egotistical self-styled academic get sliced and diced by one of the quickest on-his-feet thinkers we have had the pleasure of seeing operate. Carter had the brains, he just lacked the delivery; Obama has both.
To see the Newton's loud mouthed tele-prompter non-issue carried to it's logical conclusion; both men simply responding using notes or the palm of the hand, whatever works. Answering real questions asked by anyone, someone, incapable of being cowed by the reality television grandstanding shenanigans Getrich has perfected. He's definitely been watching his Ray-gun tapes.
The one word, "No", the "How dare you sir!" crap; all addressed by the questioner with a simple, "I dare, sir, because it's what I am supposed to do here. Now please answer the question." That would be too cool.
And if Getrich vs Obama is "bringing a knife to a gunfight", Rmoney is like bringing a water pistol. The Fortunate Son can't even hang in there with the likes of Guvnor Goodhair without a "Ten K" proportion oops; Obama will eat him for lunch, teleprompter and all.
With regard to the questioners, and the MSM in general, not doing their job, here is a good piece on Reader Supported News by Barbra Streisand worth a look.
Just can't have too many reasons to "Vote early and vote often."
peace.
