All you have to do is vote.
- I am not "a 28 year old activist and writer living in south Alabama."
- I have not "always taken politics and activism seriously."
- I have not "dedicated my whole life to ... writing about and discussing important issues..."
- I am not someone who "helped stall an anti-transgender 'bathroom' bill in Tennessee."
- I have not "been co-manager for a series at Daily Kos called KosAbility."
- I am not "on SSI."
- And for me it is not "very difficult to get out to Netroots Nation every year."
But Scottie Thomaston, who previously went by the DKos moniker of "indiemcemopants", is all those things. And as most of you know, a damned fine essayist here at Daily Kos.
So he deserves your vote in the Democracy for America scholarship competition to send a number of distinguished individuals to this year's Netroots Nation in Providence, RI.
All is takes is a few clicks to put Scottie on a plane from Alabama to Rhode Island.
I met Scottie for the first time at Netroots Nation in 2010.
At Netroots Nation in 2011, Scottie participated in creating this "It Get's Better" Video (he begins speaking at about 17:00 in).
He wasn't afraid to put himself out there. Let's make it happen again in 2012. Click early. Click often. AND REC THIS DIARY so we can get him the votes he needs.
Thanks.

I urge everyone here to give Scottie enthusiastic support. He's a great writer and a tireless activist for the causes he believes in. He also brings the unique perspective of a disabled, out gay man living in the small town south. With all the concern about lack of diversity at NN, Scottie's experience and perspective need to be represented.
11:56 AM PT: Up to 44 supporters, from around 25 previous to this diary.
11:59 AM PT: But we want to get to hundreds!
1:00 PM PT: 59 supporters now. But off the rec list.
1:05 PM PT: Scottie is now #21 by number of supporters.
5:15 PM PT: Up to 70 supporters and 19th place.
