This is a brief update on my last diary regarding Virginia's SB1, which would tighten Voter ID requirements for elections. I had earlier reported that the bill was on its way to Governor McDonnell's desk for his signature on February 20th. It turns out that I was mistaken, and that the House of Delegates had passed a different version of the bill, HB9; this necessitated a conference committee, which reported out a bill on March 9th. This was passed as SB1ER on March 10th, and was sent to the Governor's Office then. He has not signed it yet, but instead sent a list of recommended changes to the bill. At this point, no official decision has been made on these changes.
My apologies to all involved for my unintentional error.
