Yup, this is what they've been reduced to:

Much has been made about Mitt Romney, in 1983, putting his family dog Seamus in a kennel on top of his roof and driving from Boston to Canada, with said canine Seamus making his displeasure known in a rather scatological way....
The Romney campaign signaled tonight that they are not about to cede any ground when it comes to a candidate’s odd past with man’s best friend.
And the Obama campaign shot back, with a spokesman suggesting the Romney team was attacking a child, since the Obama act in question took place when he was a kid.
The Daily Caller noted that in President Obama’s best-selling memoir, “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance,” the president recalls being fed dog meat as a young boy in Indonesia with his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro.
“With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy),” the president wrote. “Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.”
After his mother married Soetoro, Obama lived in Indonesia from 1967 until 1971, from roughly the age of 6 through 10.
So, let's see:
A 36-year old adult family man deliberately tortures the beloved family pet for 12 hours.
An 8-year old child samples food prepared by someone else at the direction of his stepfather in a country where it's considered the norm.
Yeah, that's a fair comparison.
Anyway, it's already going viral, complete with Photoshopped pics of Obama with a dog in his mouth, Michael Vick jokes, etc etc. They're gonna push hard on this regardless of the logic (and by their standards it makes sense, as it reinforces the "Obama as Other" meme).
Update: Dogs Against Romney has chimed in with their take on this latest nontroversy:
"How old was he?" I asked her. "I don't know," she said, "maybe 10."
"I think dog meat is fairly common, culturally, in Indonesia, isn't it?" I asked. She said she wasn't sure.
Still a little groggy from being awakened, I found it easy to come my conclusion: "I think it sounds pretty desperate on the part of the Romney campaign to bring this up as if it compares in an way to what Romney did...it seems desperate for the Romney campaign to bring up something that happened to Obama when he was 10-years old, not preparing his own meals, in a country where eating dog meat probably isn't all that unusual - as if it compares in any way to Romney, as a 36-year old adult, in America, making the conscious decision to strap his family pet to the roof of a car for a 12-hour drive, and leaving it up there even after it got sick."
"Why do you think they brought it up, then?" She asked.
"I think they are desperate to divert attention from what Romney did." I answered.
