Okay, normally I don't do one of these diaries unless I have several paragraphs with points to make, research done and whatnot but I just had a question that I needed to ask and frankly couldn't think of a better place to do so. Normally I try to be cogent, detached, and avoid vulgar language as much as possible... This is going to be an exception.
This is concerning the current nationwide, state-to-state movement to defund Planned Parenthood or any marginal government spending on any organization that may in any small way be involved with abortion services or (I can't believe it but) birth control. Opponents always claim that their principles and their religion say these practices are wrong so their tax money shouldn't go to pay for it. You know, that they shouldn't be forced to fund things that they disagree with? My simple question for that is (and I apologize for swearing ahead of time), "WHEN THE FUCK DID THIS UTTER BULLSHIT GET STARTED?!?!"
Because your religion believes it to be wrong government can't spend money on it? Well, there are many pacifist sects out there, some of them Christian. Since their beliefs oppose it does that mean tax money can't be used to pay for any wars or the military? Of course not, the idea of completely defunding the military is absurd. But then again don't we "need to respect their beliefs?" Since when does government funding require everybody agree on it? If that was standard policy government couldn't spend a dime on a damned thing. It is totally ridiculous, stupid, ignorant, and childish beyond words that you get to use the "I don't like it" excuse to stop it. The only thing worse than the mindless masses getting away with it is the 'leaders' who fall into brainless lock-step with these tools.
As an old school guy I'll return to the call of the 90's before the goofball, half-wits gained a choke-hold on the Republican Party, "If you don't support abortion, then don't get one. Otherwise, shut the hell up."
