Update: Holy Crap!!! Thank you kos, FPers who read the diary, good friends one and all herein -- I have had my TU restored with only a minor deduction from my SuperPac!!! Please let me know if others have had similar consideration.
It seems I can tip comments from a certain point on -- so, please, everyone else, consider yourselves virtually tipped.
And in the spirit of the rec list: Blessings for Passover, Easter and Spring.
THANK YOU!
Update II: Per elfling
At kos' direction
I have restored rating status to everyone who was caught up in this situation. It became apparent to all that the situation was much more complicated than it originally appeared, and that people who uprated the comment did not read it as being about any DK user.
First:
mea culpa is just the plain vanilla
mea culpa not a Catholic religious reference. Ergo, this diary is not a continuation of a theme;
Second: this diary is not a WATB one; rather, a recognition of a mistake and a cautionary tale.
I consider myself a member in good standing of this community. While I can have my mean spirited moments, I don't believe that those moments reflect my overall persona. I try to avoid pie fights -- other than to make a general comment. I definitely have learned not to get invested in the religion debates or the seriously pro/con diaries on the Administration.
That being said, last night I found that I lost my TU status and am now designated NR. I thought, surely, this must be a computer glitch. I've done nothing untoward. Thankfully, I was guided to a community diary in which kos basically NR'd a bunch of us because of a parent comment.
How did I get into that diary? Well, I am a member of that community but I had checked the hidden comments wherein I discovered what appeared to be a disruption by a non-member. I did go to the parent comment but it made no sense as to what followed. I rec'd the comments of those who were protecting the diary from disruption.
I often do the same thing if I find an IGTNT comment in hiddens. I don't generally add to the HRs but do rec the comments.
I don't troll the hidden comments to add my two cents or add to a pile on. I read them out of curiousity and because, I could as TU. It is unfortunate that my rec'ing of community members' non-threatening comments resulted in my NR -- but, hey, that's the way things go.
So, along with my apology, I would recommend to others to be careful to both read the parent comment prior to rec'ing -- and actually comprehend the history if there is one. I had zero clue that, other than some self-indulgence, there was anything wrong with a comment that referred to Mitt and Santorum with adjectives.
Obviously, this diary is obvious: I'm trying to get my TU back because I hate not being able to rec comments.
