Four days late. That's not too many, is it?
I've not been on the site much of late, so I managed to miss the hullabaloo over the big Daily Kos double-digit anniversary. Shame on me.
Daily Kos has been a large part of my life for a number of years, and at one point I was chronicling some of its milestones. A decent summary of these was published right here as part of the eighth anniversary celebrations: Top Comments: Eight Years of Daily Kos. They only cover the first five years, really, but there are links to many DKos diaries and dKosopedia articles. You can find more site history if you explore the Daily Kos History tag.
And, of course, in case you missed it, here's Markos's post from the anniversary day: 10 years. 10 freakin' years. Ten years: that's not too many!
This being a day like any other, albeit from our eleventh year, it's time for A Word From Our Sponsor:

I don't see evidence of lots of cake. That's what birthdays and anniversaries are supposed to have, right? I've looked back at the day, with help from jotter's invaluable High Impact Posts: May 26, 2012 to make sure. I'm able to find only one cake, late in the celebration diary, though I have to give Onomastic this: it was a great cake: by definition, anything with that much chocolate frosting, not to mention a garnish of computer hardware, is great. There was more cake in twigg's early morning Happy Birthday Daily Kos diary—it was posted after the masthead changed but well before kos's post—though you had to wade through oceans of disgruntled pooties to get to the trio of gustatory offerings, and they were probably eaten (virtually) before most people got there.

There were half a dozen comment nominations tonight, which is thrice what arrived for my previous diary, and all of them met our daily deadline of 9:30pm eastern. Anyone can send us great comments. Really. As noted above, when you send a writeup with the link, we are able to include it, though we reserve the right to edit, and if you don't include a writeup (or even not much of one), you will likely have some words added by the diarist of the night, which tonight meant me, as you'll see below. Tonight's submission count is gmail, 6; DKos, 1. (One was submitted via both methods, which is one way to make sure we see it no matter what. And why the total appears to be seven when it's actually six.)
From Laughing Planet:
This gem by one of our site's finest should be enshrined in a virtual Hall of Fame somewhere. Viva, Mangofinc!
From
Crashing Vor:
Cedwyn's Amercia comment stands out on a day of standouts, and AlyoshaKaramazov's response is pretty quick, too.
From
Hedwig:
In Cenk Uygur's diary today, citizenx took exception to his words. I know, but it cracked me up and was one of the best comments I've seen this year. Classic citizenx.
From
luckylizard (writeup by sardonyx):
In MinistryOfTruth's diary Romney cries about inheriting Mass Gov with a bad economy. Seriously, Siri makes a very good point about Romney and Republicans in general.
From
Inland:
This analysis of Fox & Friends by thaddeus74 is right on. From the Meteor Blades story Fox & Friends create and run 'fair and balanced' anti-Obama attack video.
From
BlueStateRedhead (writeup by sardonyx):
In ericlewis0's diary Murdochgate: Coulson Detained on Perjury Charges UPDATED x9 w/ Brit + Coulson CHARGED!, kaleidoscope explains why the interest over the arrest is not much ado about nothing.
From
sardonyx (your Wednesday diarist):
In Bill Prendergast's diary about the departure of a good legislator who's tired of dealing with ideologues, hannah has an interesting post that leads to further interesting discussion downthread.
In Gary Norton's diary about Romney wanting three years of business experience added to the list of constitutional requirements for president, jjohnjj wonders if this is a new euphemism.
When it comes to Obama and change for his second term, crystal eyes shows us what's important.
After viewing a lamb video, Dragon5616 is shocked.
