Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition
solar scorecard:
lifecycle cost assessment of solar electricity, PV, photovoltaic power
SVTC began in 1982 working on groundwater contamination in Silicon Valley where both workers on their jobs and people in their homes were exposed to hazardous and toxic chemicals from the computer industry's silicon chip and electronics manufacturing.
These days, the majority of silicon goes into solar panels for electricity generation. This is SVTC's latest scorecard for that part of solar's power.
