I'm usually more of a lurker than a poster these days but still a big fan and daily visitor -- and I think it's important for the credibility of Daily Kos that people get things right. Sometimes, that involves doing a minute or two of online research before you post something based on what you think, or what you wish, is happening. Right now, the top diary is called "Rush Limbaugh Off Air in Philadelphia." Apparently it was posted by someone who turned on his radio, heard Michael Smerconish in Limbaugh's long-standing time slot, and raced to post something.
I wish Rush Limbaugh was off the air in Philadelphia. We all do. But he's not -- he's moving to a brand FM new station called "IQ" (how's that for an oxymoron) at 106.9. Fun fact: This used to be the outlet for Harold "End of the World" Camping, but now it's a new station run by long-time radio guru Randy Michaels, who nearly destroyed the Tribine Co. in my business of newspapers. In fact, the unholy trio of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Limbaugh are re-united (and it feels so bad) at the new 106.9.
Will the move hurt Limbaugh here in the short run? Hopefully? Will he find a new footing on FM in Philly? Hopefully not -- although there is a movement here to shift sports talk and now political talk away from AM, which people under the age of 35 don't apparently know how to access.
Like I said, do your homework, folks.
UPDATE: Of course, in my haste I forgot to include a link to the news about Limbaugh moving to FM. Here's an article about the move.
UPDATE 2: Changed the title for obvious reasons.
