A follow up to my "They do know they're throwing crazy people out on the street, right?" blog.
The words I write below are not my own. They are somebody else's, one with more spirit, more care, more sanity, more heart, more wisdom, more guts, more eloquence, more truth and more soul than me. And definitely more than our Gov. Chris Christie will have in a thousand lifetimes on the subject, impact, and pain of the closing on the North Jersey Developmental Center.
This person shares their thoughts with me and I want to give those thoughts a place to be heard. It's a short diary but one that gets to the point.
What about the clients whose family members are to far to come to visit family, or even the ones who are elderly or too poor to scrounge simple change for the bus? They depend on staff to care for their love ones. We're their family too.
The ones who are group home ready send them. But the ones who are not have them here where they will be safe.
They have a right to live out their life in any way they're comfortable.
Staff hire are used to making a certain amount of money to survive on. They're forcing us to go from state employees to state prisoners.
We've been forced to damn near sell drugs to continue to provide for our family.
Minimal wage is for a high school student. Not someone who's in their 40's or even 50's.
