For the second time in two days, Sam Wurzelbacher, while campaigning for State Senator Lori Klein in northern Arizona, uttered his solution to immigration: "Put troops on the border and start shootin." Rather than create, as Obama did, a sensible deferred deportation program like the one that begins today, "Joe the Plumber" has an easier solution: build walls and shoot the immigrants who try to scale them. Simple. If you watch campaign ads in Arizona, from Pamela Gorman to Ron Gould, you'd think the solution to every problem is to take an Uzi or shotgun and blast away.
After Wurzelbacher pronounced his "start shootin" solution two days ago in Prescott, Lori Klein told reporters he was really just joking. Har har.
"He was joking ... He was not serious. He was certainly tongue in check and I think the media making such a thing of this is ridiculous." Arizona Republic
Then the Ohio congressional candidate said it
again yesterday, only it doesn't sound like a joke at all. He brags about being the only politician with the guts to say it: "You heard it here first." Here's the video, jump to about 2:20:
Senator Lori Klein's been known to have a problem or two with guns herself. She's the dim bulb who, just two days after the Jan. 11, 2011 Tucson shooting, pointed a loaded handgun at a reporter. Just joking!
Arizona state Sen. Lori Klein (R), a gun-rights champion, keeps a loaded raspberry-pink handgun in her purse, and during an interview with Arizona Republic reporter Richard Ruelas, she took it out and pointed it at him. HuffPo
Here's Klein and Wurzelbacher's entire schtick, which is pretty much the Arizona GOP platform: illegals are to blame for all of our problems. They take our jobs, flood our hospitals, and their children fill up our schools, making everything more expensive for you and me. I guess Lori and Joe think it's better to have a sick, uneducated populace. They also seem to have missed the memo about immigration:
After some 40 years, the flow of Mexicans southward into the US has come to a standstill and may even have reversed, according to a new report from the nonpartisan Pew Hispanic Institute. Christian Science Monitor
Aside from disgraced and recalled boogerhead Russell Pearce, author of SB 1070, who will
not win his race in November, only a handful of white crabby racist wankers like Wurzelbacher continue to swim in this filth, while conveniently ignoring the actual people responsible for the nation's economic tailspin in 2008: rich dickheads in suits, not poor immigrants.
Never once in his tirade does Wurzelbacher mention the multi-million-dollar salaries and bonuses of healthcare industry CEOs—no, it's the immigrants' fault. Never once does he point out that banks, mortgage companies, and their ass-kissing politicians destroyed the economy—no, it's the immigrants who did it. Never once does he mention that his party has blocked, for decades, progress toward renewable energy, while billions go to Exxon-Mobil and other exploitative leeches. Never once does he note that the for-profit education industry, in cahoots with Republican lawmakers, is undermining public schools while bilking taxpayers.
Wurzelbacher ends his rant to the few dozen gooberheads in Prescott with a history lesson about political correctness, which, he says, began in Nazi Germany as a means to silence the public. Not true, but you'll find the tale, like he did, on rightwing websites. Never doubt the right's ability to link whatever they don't like to Nazis.
He also points out how involved he is as a parent with his son's school. "Him and I do homework together," he says. Let's hope it's not English.
