Well you can talk about tone deafness but this one takes the cake.
Ann Romney gave a talk at the Latino Coalition luncheon in Tampa Florida on Wednesday.
Romney said her “importance in speaking out is making sure that those coalitions,” referring to women and Hispanic voters, “that would naturally be voting for another party wake up and say, You’d better really look at the issues this time.”
That is really helpful. Wake up and look at the issues this time.
You see it is not what the Republicans have done or what the Republican's message has been:
“It really is a message that would resonate well if they could just get past some of their biases that have been there from the Democratic machines that have made us look like we don’t care about this community,” Romney said."
I cannot believe the campaign would put out this message. It may work with Republican Hispanics but that is not the crowd they need to convince.
A campaign surrogate should either set a gentler tone or a harsher tone than the candidate. Ann Romney was suppose to show the human side to the Romney family. She was suppose to counter the Obama family advantage. She was suppose to show that even the wealthy care about those less fortunate or those who live in different circumstances.
She was introduced by her youngest son, Craig. He’s fluent in Spanish and often campaigns for his father in this state and has even starred in Spanish language radio and television ads for the campaign.
Well that makes it all better.
