In his speech yesterday, the Republican Candidate for President of the United States said:
An apology for America’s values is never the right course. Source
This wasn't some off hand phrase. Mr. Romney repeated the sentiment no fewer than FIVE TIMES! If my only source of information were Romney I'd assume some serious apologizing had taken place attacking truth, justice, the American way, baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, Chevrolet, moms, families, babies, Social Security, and representative democracy in general...
Being shamelessly controversial, I've posted the offensive Cairo Embassy apology below the fold. Follow me if you dare...
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others. All kidding aside the "American Value" that Mitt thinks the Cairo Embassy "apologized" for is bigotry and hatred. Dallasdoc captured it well in this comment:
Anti-Muslim incendiary propaganda
... pisses off millions of people who attack Americans abroad and kill several. Other anti-Muslim incendiary propagadists defend them. What's so confusing here? The people who should be blamed for this mess are the ones tweeting this drivel. They're doing their best to mainstream hatred for Muslims, and have been doing so since Bush left office. Even George Bush knew better, and that's the lowest possible standard to fail.
For the love of money is the root of all evil; and while some have coveted after it, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)

I find it amazing that the coverage of Romney's outrageous remark is whether or not the Cairo statement was an
apology. It wasn't, but this is:
I'd like to formally apologize to the population of the planet Earth for Mitt Romney's American Values. The 1st Amendment to the U. S. Constitution gives him the right to spew feces from his brain through his mouth just like it gives the makers of the offensive film that started all this the right to produce their crap. It also gives me the right, as an American Citizen, to say that those are not the values that I hold. They are not the values that the majority in this country hold. I'm sorry because I don't consider bigotry and hatred to have value at all, and I think most people agree with me.
