This morning my husband I and got up at 3:30 and decided to head down to the Long Island Sound to take pictures of the sunrise. We went to Ocean Point Park just south of New London. We caught the sun just as it came over the horizon. The sunrise was beautiful and we took some pictures. Follow below the Fleur-de-Kos for the surprise. (Warning: photo heavy)
We got to Ocean Point Park just before sunrise
The sun finally peaks out
The lighthouse was beautiful in the dawn light
The birds were definitely very friendly
We had a visitor on the boardwalk - I think he thought we brought breakfast
I always have to photograph flowers. My husband says I like flowers better than people judging by the amount of flower photos I have.
This carousel must be over 100 years old.
Over 40 horses on this carousel and only one black horse - it was so elaborately painted
We head to the water one more time before leaving the park
We see either a Coast Guard or Navy boat out by the lighthouse
Here it is again
Imagine our surprise to see a submarine!
We decided to follow it up the Thames River to get more pictures
Imagine sitting on your deck having your morning coffee and a sub goes by...
Passing Electric Boat in Groton
Almost home
I guess you just never know what you're going to find if you just get up in the morning and see where the day takes you. A hat tip to Dee for suggesting I post the pictures. Have a great Sunday everyone!
