This will be short and quick. Should the Democratic Party consider having a convention every two years instead of every four (with all the same bells and whistles)?
Two points:
1. Look at what this convention did for voter enthusiasm on our side. Amazing.
2. Would 2010 have looked different if we had had such a convention to get our side energized? I think it might have done just that.
Considering that Democrats seem to be having trouble since 1994 in these off year elections, due to the lack of a presidential race, perhaps this is one major thing that could be changed to help break through the media and give Democratic speakers and ideas a direct line to the voters.
Immediately, two things than could be drawbacks:
1. Media ignores the other convention.
2. It could water down the one we have every 4 years.
Thoughts?
