Cain told members of the media after the speech that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's recent “47 percent” comment was a “non-story” being blown out of proportion by the media. But Cain said he would have been doing better if he was the nominee, saying that he'd probably have a “substantial lead” on President Barack Obama at this point.
“The reason is quite simple: I have some depth to my ideas,” he said.

There is so much wrong in that blockquote that I scarcely know where to begin describing the wrong.
Let's start from the bottom and work our way up.
- "I have some depth to my ideas." That is, technically, true. One does not normally measure depth in picometers, but natheless, a picometer of depth is still "some". Was there ever a more ludicrous plan than "9-9-9"? Even Steve Forbes' rich-guy fantasy of the flat tax was better thought out.
- Herman Cain would have a "substantial lead" over Barack Obama. I will admit that you can sing better than Willard does. But that would not be enough to close your probable 80% deficit in the women's vote. In case no one told you, Herminator, even Republican women think you are skeevy.
- 47% is being blown out of proportion by the media? Said one out-of-touch entitled CEO in defense of another.
Tim Pawlenty, Jon Huntsman, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum - the list of former rivals who have left a calling card shaped like a dagger in Romney's back is getting longer. Who will be the last to elicit "et tu?" from a shocked Mitt? Which Republican will stick with Mitt? I'll guess Newt. Of all of them, he's the one whose soul is available at the lowest bid.
