Wisconsin just got the embarrassing news that "We're 42nd!" In jobs creation.
This is historically bad performance, after Wisconsin actually LED THE NATION in jobs loss last year.
But don't tell that to Scott Walker, who is furiously blowing sunshine up the tailpipe of Wisconsin's public and press, and blaming everyone but himself for his total failure.
At a business group yesterday and in his weekly radio address, Scott Walker has created a bizarro-counter-narrative, where up is down, black is white and Wisconsin is actually thriving under his Tea Party mismanagement.
Walker even went so far as to decry "bumper sticker" sloganeering and to claim that his scandal-plagued Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, which has lost track of $56 million and which is run by a 20-something Republican political hack, was "wildly successful."
This isn't merely shading the truth-it is a whole-scale reinvention of facts.
He has already dodged and weaved and perverted the actual jobs numbers in an effort to avoid any accountability, blaming protesters, Jim Doyle, the Greeks and maybe even the Hodag.
But the scales are falling off the eyes of the public. There is only ONE STANDARD by which Scott Walker should be judged, and it's the standard he set for himself.
He promised that his policies and administration would create 250,000 jobs. In fact, Walker has said that his job is "on the line to create 250,000 jobs in the private sector." It's a promise that he is running away from faster than a streaking Jordy Nelson.
We fully intend to hold him to his promise because while we certainly hope he succeeds, it has become clearer than ever that, when it comes to creating jobs, Scott Walker just doesn't know how.
