As I listen to all the pontificating from the pundits about "entitlements", and all the things that "the little people" better get used to being slashed/eliminated, I have a question for them:
Dear ___, What are YOU willing to give up? You've all been going on and on and on... about that for the "good of the country" we need to reduce the debt and to do that we need to cut "entitlements" or raise the retirement age, or cut programs for the poor and disabled to be able to get there.
How patriotic are YOU? Are you willing to go to bat for real changes that would restore the financial health of this country? Are you willing to tell your Corporate Masters that, sorry, you're going to have to lose this tax break or that loophole?
Are you willing to raise the ceiling on SS deduction from it's current $113,700 to unlimited income for that measly 6.5% so that those programs are funded forever?
Are you willing to quit holding the Postal Service hostage by changing the fact that each year they need to have 75 years of pension benefits funded?
Are you willing to quit harping on the "takers" and look into your own life to see how much "taking" you're benefiting from?
Are you willing to raise the wages of your employees so that they have more disposable income that will boost our economy?
Are you willing to hold the people accountable that put our country in the position we are in financially so that it is a warning not to try that again?
I could go on and on and on and on but you get the drift.
But finally - I'm not just talking to Republicans or corporate CEOs or the very wealthy - I'm taking about the Talking Heads like Tom Brokaw or George Will or Luke Russert, or David Gregory, etc - who make us all feel like we have a target on our backs while they will still rake in their $500k+ salaries.
Give it some thought.
No? Nothing comes to mind? Nothing?
Thought so.
