Around noon, a large tornado hit Adairsville, Georgia and the surrounding areas of Rome and Calhoun. There has been one death confirmed in Bartow County. The tornado went over I-75 tossing and overturning around a hundred cars and tractor trailers. The interstate remains closed near Adairsville.
Tennessee had eight confirmed touch down today killing a man in the Nashville area. Both Governors of Georgia and Tennessee have declared state of emergencies: Gov. Deal declares State of Emergency, Middle Tennessee hit with 8 tornadoes Just recently, several Tennessee Congressman including Nashville Democrat Rep. Jim Cooper voted against relief aid for Hurricane Sandy victims. Both of Georgia's Senators Chambliss and Isaakson voted against helping aid for Sandy. Sen. Corker of Tennessee voted no in aid. Will be interesting to see how they justify aid for their states when they closed the door on helping those hurt in the northeast.
