Today is Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday).
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the first day of the Christian 40-day period of Lent, a time when Christians are supposed to try especially hard to repent of their sins. This replicates Jesus's own 40-day trial in the desert, when he was tempted by Satan.
(FWIW, Jews and Muslims, the others of the Abrahamic religions, have similar traditions.)
It is traditional that believers make a sacrifice of some sort during Lent, to try to purify their souls before the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus at Easter.
Christians (like Muslims and Jews) take this kind of thing seriously.
As I have done at least once before, I've resolved to stop doing any blogging during Lent (and other things). Instead of posting on the Internet, I'm going to take 40 days to catch up on book reading and other things, including prayer.
So I'll be gone for awhile, but back after Easter. I'll lose my TU status and 5 mojo bars, and they'll come back. This is NOT a GBCW or TTFN! I've been here more than 10 years. I love this site. It's a kind of home.
Love to everybody, including those who haven't been so loving toward me and my beliefs.
