The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, fish, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located.

The old junipers bend under the weight of winter drifts as new snow is added. Birds shelter inside these dark protective igloos, entering and exiting through small holes and crevasses that pocket the hillside thicket.
On our morning walkabouts the dogs explore the nooks and crannies of the thicket edge, peeing here, peeing there, as dogs do, flushing residents from their roosts.
I was charmed by the dark eyes of a small junco peeking at me from her front porch perch as she disappeared back into the safe depths of her juniper cave to join the chickadees and sparrows.
We're still mired in the the depths of winter drifts here, with no sign of spring. I hope you all keep telling me it's just around the corner.
Please, remind me when spring arrives that I need to trim the overgrown junipers.
Your turn. What's happening in your neck of the woods?
